Bug: Copy works once but not second time

WLM: I'm having problems copying text from an existing email into a new one,
using ctrl-C and ctrl-V. The copy-paste works the first time, but not a
second time.

Here's how to reproduce the problem: Start (compose) a new email. Open any
existing email, eg., from your Inbox. Select text from the existing email
and copy it (ctrl-C). Paste it into the new email (ctrl-V). Repeat but
select some other text in the old email.

For me, the first copy-and-paste works, but the second (and subsequent) just
pastes the text from the first copy operation, not subsequent -- as if only
the first copy operation worked.

Anyone else seeing this?

HTML format, WLM build 1365, Vista Home Premium, Canada

(copy-paste didn't work at all in 1184, so working once is a step forward)

Hi Baffin:

Are you using Windows XP? There is a documented bug with this
operating system that one must occasionally return to highlighted
text and hit Ctrl+c a second time in order to replace the current
contents of the clipboard. I occasionally experience this issue
when working with text in nearly every Windows-based application
running on Windows XP that I use.

Perhaps this bug is the source of your issue, too.

I've also experienced this bug, and not just in WLMail, while working on
Windows XP.

I too noticed this bug in the previous build of WLM when trying to use
Ctrl + C, but that was the first time I had experienced anything like it on
my WXP SP2 OS. I could never consistently reproduce it though, and I have
not been able to reproduce it yet in WLM 1365.

I can't reproduce what you are seeing. Mine works as expected.
I'm using Vista Ultimate, US.

Thanks for the replies. It's not consistent on my system either, but mostly
the first ctrl-C works but not subsequent (based on about a dozen trials).

After reading your replies and doing more testing, I find the following:

* ctrl-C to pick up text from non-WLM windows works consistently (also,
ctrl-V into WLM always works)

* although ctrl-C doesn't always work (from an existing email),
right-click-Copy from that same window always works (so apparently it is the
keyboard event not the copy handler?)

* I haven't noticed problems with ctrl-C in any other application (which
tends to rule out problems with this old keyboard I'm hanging onto -- an old
IBM Model M -- and its interface).

Otherwise, I'm using Vista Home Premium, Canada/english, as shipped by Dell
on a new Inspiron 531 desktop, with WLM 1365, all up to date. Both the
source and composition emails are HTML.
