On a few instances after copying another LiveID contact.ebd file to the default DBStore folder, I've seen the Live ID of the
source contacts.edb displayed when viewing the default contacts.
Never did investigate if it’s a supporting file or the contacts.edb file, thus I've always deleted the subfolders and files under
the default DBStore, which seems to do the trick.
Two possibilities come to mind - one of the supporting files is responsible or the contacts.edb is involved until its updated and
Tools->Options...->Connection [tab]->Connecting to Windows Live services [section]->Stop signing in [button]
However, by doing that you will not have access to your Windows Live Contacts or Windows Live Calendar within WLMail. You will
also lose some other Windows Live features (see: Help->'Do I need to sign in to use Windows Live Mail?').
You can (brace yourself) copy->paste your WLContacts 'DBStore' to your Default Contacts 'DBStore'*, and your WLCalendar 'DBStore'
to your Default Calendar 'DBStore'** (these procedures will entirely replace the Default Contacts Store and Default Calendar
Store).
->Tools->Options...->General [tab]->[uncheck] 'Send and receive messages at startup'->[uncheck] 'Check for new messages every 'n'
minute(s)'
->Do not use the 'Sync Everything' feature (Ctrl+F5).
->To check for new e-mail, go to the Mail UI and use the 'Sync' button on the Toolbar (or use F5).
->To check for new news posts, go to the Newsgroups UI and use the 'Headers' or 'Sync' button on the Toolbar (or use F5).
->To check for new feeds, allow automatic feed updating (Tools->Manage feeds...->) or go to the Feeds UI and use the 'Sync'
button on the Toolbar (or use F5).
->Avoid switching to the Calendar UI too often (or at all), or leave it open (or use your Internet browser to interact with
WLCalendar). Generally, the WLCalendar in WLMail will successfully synch when an Event is created or edited.
->Have a CPU meter on display, and if the Calender sync begins using high CPU (such as when you switch to the Calendar UI),
immediately click on the 'Updating calendar...' notice on the Status Bar (View->Status bar) and click the 'Stop' button.

->The path to the 'Windows Live Contacts' folder involves a hidden folder, so ensure that "Show hidden files and folders" is
checked under Folder Options in Windows Explorer...
->Each 'DBStore' folder is a protected operating system folder, so uncheck the option 'Hide protected operating system files
(Recommended)' under Folder Options in Windows Explorer...
->Within the 'Windows Live Contacts' folder are folders, with coded folder names - one for the Default Contacts, and two (one is
a 'shadow' copy) for each Windows Live ID (WL ID) used to sign into WLMail or WLMessenger.
->To determine which folder contains the Default Contacts, and which folder contains the contacts for each WL ID, use regedit.exe
to navigate to the registry Key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\Database' look at the Value Names
and Value Data within this Key and take note of what coded folder name corresponds to the Default Contacts, and to each WL ID.
->Now close WLMail and WLMessenger and use copy->paste to copy the required WLContacts 'DBStore' folder to the Default Contacts
Store, overwriting the existing Default Contacts 'DBStore' folder (or first rename the original Default 'DBStore' folder to
"DBStore (old)".
[Reverse the above procedure to copy the Default Contacts DBStore to a WLContacts DBStore, ensuring that both the Real and Shadow
WLContacts DBStore are replaced with the copy of the Default Contacts DBStore]
->The Calendar Stores are located within a folder named 'Calendars' within the WLMail Message Store***.
->The Default Calendar 'DBStore' folder is directly under this 'Calendars' folder.
->There are also folders named according to each WL ID, which contains that WL ID's WLCalendar 'DBStore' folder.
->Now close WLMail and use copy->paste to copy the required WLCalendar 'DBStore' folder to the Default Calendar Store,
overwriting the existing Default Calendar 'DBStore' folder (or first rename the original Default 'DBStore' folder to "DBStore
(old)".
[Reverse the above procedure to copy the Default Calendar DBStore to a WLCalendar DBStore]
***The path to Windows Live Mail's Message Store folder in its default location, involves a hidden folder, so ensure that "Show
hidden files and folders" is checked under Folder Options in Windows Explorer...

Post by R.Clark73I am also getting "There was an error when attempting to connect to the
Windows Live Calendar service. If the error persists, check to see if there's
an upgrade of Windows Live Mail available or contact a service
representative." each time I check my mail. Is there anyway I can uninstall
the calendar service and just keep Windows Live Mail. I have no need of the
calendar and it is becoming a real nuisance.
Post by Geoff Clark [MSFT]This is a known issue that we're working on. We are hitting capacity limits
